Fitting In

February 22, 2010

Jack and I took a leap and went to a playgroup today. Even as we were driving there, I was thinking to myself that we could just turn around and go home. Well, maybe we should have.

It was not for us.

I won’t go into all the details because. Well, just because. Mainly, Jack and I didn’t seem to fit in. Oh well. It’s actually kind of comical.

I did learn something, though. Actually a few things. I think instead of trying to find a playgroup, I’d much rather go to a Bible Study during the week that has childcare. It’s hard to talk and get to know someone when there are little kids crawling all over you.

Also, I’m learning more about Jack lately. He’s becoming a very sensitive little boy in most situations. I think being in the midst of seven kids, most of them a little older than him, was too much for him. It was extremely chaotic.

He sat in my lap for the first 30 minutes and didn’t move! Can we say shy? Even when he did venture away from me, he’d whimper when other kids got too close or when he realized I was across the room.

Shy and sensitive. Hmm….definitely our child.

Urshley…I’m sorry that the playgroup didn’t go very well. For what it’s worth, I’m proud of you for giving it a try. I don’t know that I would have (being anti-social and all). I hope the Bible study is fun. Update us on that!
