Quote of the Day

January 10, 2010
by

Trying to make good on our goal of finding a church in 2010, we visited a church this morning close to our house. I would just like to mention that we dropped Jack off in the nursery and I didn’t cry! I almost thought about it too much while we were in church, but I kept saying, “He’s just down the hall, he’s just down the hall.”

This was not the church for us, as we quickly learned, but we both had a good laugh in the middle of the service. They had a time of bringing the children up front and someone had a little devotion for them. Today’s devotion was about throwing your trash away and recycling it. During the ending prayer, we heard this…

“Thank you, Lord, that these children know what trash is and where to put it.”

Why were we the only ones laughing in our pew? That was almost worth getting out of my warm bed. Almost. But not.

On the way home, we wondered how you find a church when you don’t really like church, or at least what church has mostly become. Maybe we should move back to Mobile just for Mars Hill. (Mom, don’t get your hopes up, I’m just sayin’.)

I don’t really know what you guys think about PCA churches or what distance you are looking to travel for church, but Stephen and I REALLY enjoyed being a part of Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church (it is on Caldwell Mill Road). It is unlike any PCA church I have ever attended, AND we met some of the most loving and caring people there.
Obviously, this is just a suggestion…but if you want to check out their website it is: http://www.avpc.org
Here’s to hoping you guys find a church! 🙂
