“We should get jerseys cause we make a great team”

August 5, 2009

Well, here we are- three years and a baby later. We’ve officially been married for three years!

I’m really thankful we had over two years as just the two of us. Now that Jack’s here, though, it’s almost hard to imagine it was ever only two of us. And I don’t think we’d have it any other way.

During this past year of marriage, we’ve really grown together – going through the moods of pregnancy, the fears that it brought along with it, then having a newborn.

I don’t know that I’ve ever felt more loved or loved Reid more than I did in the delivery room. I can’t really even describe it. I’ll never forget the look on Reid’s face as he sat with me helplessly during the contractions with tears running down his face. I knew it was torture for him to watch me in such pain.

But later, when the pain was over, we looked back and forth to each other and to this little boy being held up in front of us. It was such a surreal moment of joy and relief.

Even as we came home, going through the first few weeks together was intense. I couldn’t have gotten through that time without Reid. From the big and small things, like him getting up with Jack in the middle of the night, letting me know it’s ok to stop breastfeeding because of how much stress it was causing, taking care of Jack so I can sleep or leave the house, etc etc.

Through this whole experience of the beginnings of parenthood, we’ve learned a lot about one another. And maybe even have a new appreciation for the other. At least, I do. I can’t speak for him, haha.

In conclusion, I give you a few lost photos from our engagement session…

the end.
