Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot

September 9, 2008

Our lovely air conditioner decided to give us more problems lately– the fan motor went out on us.

This happened Saturday morning. It’s taken til today (Tuesday) to get someone out here to look at it. We weren’t sure if it was the air compressor, the fan, the motor, or what so we didn’t know the price range we were looking at. One of the many perks of being a homeowner.

The guy that came out today confirmed it was the fan motor. He, also, threw in a few other things that were “wrong” with it. He came out to a starting price of $800 just to fix the fan and $3500 to replace the unit. Thanks, but no thanks.

Thankfully, my Dad can fix anything and he’s very familiar with our a/c unit since he’s had to work on it and clean it for us. He walked us through over the phone on what to buy and how to fix it and now, for $138, we have cold air in the house!

Since we bought this house, Reid’s learned a lot and become quite the handy guy. Here he is hard at work:

It’s amazing what people pay for things they don’t realize they can do themselves. Reid will know how to do everything!

Yes, I would agree…getting pregnant right now would be a big change – just not the change I’m looking for. But thanks!! 🙂
Glad you got the AC working and you didn’t have to pay the scam artist $3500.
