Bonding
Jack and I are headed back home tomorrow and it’s very bittersweet. I am so ready to be home and hang out with Reid, and to be back in routine. But, it’s sad to take Jack away from my parents and sister.
This was a good trip for Jack. Jack is completely different than he was when they last saw him, just a couple of months ago; he laughs, reaches for people and things, squeals at you, etc. He’s become a very interactive baby, as most babies are at this point. This has helped my family feel closer to him.
Lauren is so sad about him leaving. She has gotten him up from his naps, calmed him when he’s cried by singing to him, and made him laugh by talking to him. Jack’s laughed at my dad so much, so, of course my dad is smitten. Dad even rocked and fed him this evening when Jack wouldn’t calm down, which my dad doesn’t just do that for any baby.
((Jack didn’t go to sleep til 11 tonight!!!! He wasn’t in pain and would play when we got him up, but screamed when he went to bed and wouldn’t calm down. Turns out he was burning up. He was wearing fleece pajamas that made him sweat. Once he changed into lighter pjs, he was out cold.))
Mom’s always been all about Jack, but to have him reach for her and play with her makes it even worse when we leave and she won’t see him til Christmas time.
Overall, it was a great trip for Jack to bond with my family and for them to love on him.
We’re coming home, Chewbacca!
