Bike Story
Reid gave me a new bike for Christmas this year.
I hadn’t been able to ride it yet because we’d been out of town or because of the weather.
Last weekend it was warmer than it had been so I decided to ride around our neighborhood on my sweet new bike. As I turned onto a nearby street I picked up the speed and stood on the pedals to get over the hill. As soon as I stood up, the right pedal came off! The next thing I know I’m laying in my neighbors yard covered in grass with a pedal missing.
Its one thing if you’re 7 and you have a bike wreck…but I’m 23…and laying in a neighbors yard.
My first thought was to call Reid, but I didn’t have my phone. Plus, what’s he going to do? Drive four streets over to come pick me up?? So I quickly jumped up, grabbed the pedal, wiped the tears from my eyes and walked the bike home.
I will say that I’m glad this happened in my neighborhood and NOT on the side of a highly trafficed road or on a mountain. Next purchase: a helmet.
What kind of camera do you use?
Awww.. Ash… OUCH! I was thinking of getting a bike this spring. I could probably learn to ride before I learn to walk again, but the harrowing tale of injury and misfortune is making me think twice! I’m packing to move into the dorm… and I have plenty of bubble wrap. If you don’t want to invest in a helmet, I’m sure I could whip up an attractive little bubble wrap number that would do the trick! Love ya!
that is so sad!!!!!
honestly I am sad but on the other hand as I read, I was giggling inside….that was funny and if I was a passer by while this happen well I would help you!
