It’s a Festivus Miracle!
And thus it was we bought our house in August/September. When we moved in we noticed a stagnant and bacteria-infested “fountain” in the backyard. Not too exciting, except for the brightly colored goldfish swimming around feverishly in it.
Not much time has been spent in the backyard until last weekend when Reid was clearing out the fountain area, getting it ready for a garden. As Reid peered into the depths of the dark corners of the mysterious fountain, the lively goldfish caught his eye.
Has this fish really been living in this decrepit water all this time? How long has it been back here in the first place? What has been keeping it alive?
We can never know what has kept this “miracle” fish alive. He is obviously some sort of immortal Elf fish who now resides with us in a Christmas bowl in our kitchen. Chewy is more curious about it than we’d like him to be.
We named him Fingolfin after the High King of the Noldor in The Silmarillion.
