Blurred Vision

There are things I’ve come to expect when visiting to optometrist.

For starters, I know the routine of eye exam, seeing as how I’ve had one every couple years since I was in 3rd grade. The part I dread the most is the puff of air blown in my eye.

I also know to expect the doctor to mention how bad my vision is, whether its by joking about it or being in awe. I also won his “most nearsighted patient of the day” award!

I also know to expect to feel stupid at some point during the exam. If I could just read those last letters w/o having to make something up! I know it has nothing to do with smart, but I still feel ridiculous when he asks me to read a line and all I can say is “uh, um, yeah, wait, no.”

My eyes haven’t gotten as bad as I thought. I went from a -9.5 to a -10. The problem has been the brand of contacts I’ve been using, and my lack of replacing them every two weeks.

I did get my eyes dilated, which makes for an interesting time driving home in the sunlight.

In other news, I’m going to start swimming. My body isn’t responding to cycling or the elliptical machine anymore, and running is still not an option. I’ve read of a few other women that had hit a plateau in their weight loss, but it started back up when they started swimming. We’ll see how it goes.
